Samson Kemelmaher. Samson Izrailevich Kemelmakher. Самсон Израилевич Кемельмахер (Rus). (Yiddish שמשון קעמלמאַכער) Borm January 11, 1953 in Calarash Moldavian (USSR) - singer-songwriter of Jewish, Yiddish and Russian songs. Samson Kemelmakherv was born in Moldovan town of Calarash (now Calarash region of Moldova) He graduated from high school and music school in Kishinev. Played in an musical ensemble of Moldavian gypsies since 1980 (since the formation) to 1993. Played as a drummer in Chisinau musical group Ecou (Echo), collaborated with the famous Moldovan composer Peter Teodorovic and accompanied many famous singers, among them Jonah Suruceanu, Anastasia Lazariuc and Philip Kirkorov. Also served as a member of "Real" and "Sonora" orchestras. In 1987 he founded the Jewish musician ensemble "Yiddish Lid" with Ilya Bershadsky, which toured the major cities of the Soviet Union. In 1990, the Moscow record company "Melodia" released their first album, titled "Mine Lid - Mine Lebm" (My Song - My Life), entirely written and composed of songs of Samson Kemelmaher. The album enjoyed considerable success, many songs from this album sung, and still performed by klezmer and jewish musicians and singers around the world. Kemelmaher performs his own compositions exclusively on Bessarabian dialect of Yiddish. Since 1993 - in Israel (Rishon Lezion, and in Ashdod), where re-released the extended version of record "Mine Lid - My Lebm " A new Album of traditional and his original Jewish songs, "Der Beerishe Feng Mome" ( An Enheritance from my Mother"). Since then, also issued a bilingual (Yiddish-Russian) album "Mine Shtetele Baltz" and three Albums with original songs of Russian chanson. |
