Misha Marmar (Миша Мармар), (Marmar Mikhail Mendeleevich) (02/07/1947) - The American artist of Russian origin, in the style of pop-chanson, was born in Czernowitz (Ukraine) former (USSR). Misha Marmar had a pleasant baritone voice. In his youth he worked in the local Philharmonic Society, then served in the Army orchestra. Later he returned to his hometown did many concert touring and worked in a restaurants. Accompanied on keyboards he co-starred in the television movie "Chervona-Roota", together with Sofia Rotaru.
In the early 1970s, Misha Marmar emigrated to Israel, and in 1987 moved to New York, where he continued to work in restaurants. For 23 years he worked in one of the most famous restaurants of Brighton Beach in Brooklyn: "Arbat". Thousand of his fans where entertained weekly during his performances in "Arbat". In 1989 he released the CD "Velvet Season" and in 1994 he released albums in Russia, followed by the albums "A Middle -Aged Man" "Jewish Songs and More" and others. Misha Marmar's Album "Let's Have a Direct Talk" which was published by "Soyuz" (Russia), started with the song "Sorcerer" (music by Dmitri Sobolev, lyrics of Michael Plyatskovskogo), which was then recorded by Alla Pugacheva. Also in this album have been included songs by Alexander Vertinsky, "Madame, the leaves are falling, already," This album started a wide popularity of Misha Marmar in Russia.
In 2004, the singer took part in the musical project "It's not Russian Chanson," which was published in Israel.
His last two albums: "Daughter is Getting Married" and "Jewish Songs and More" he recorded in New York. In 2009 Misha Marmar took part in the "Old Wave" musical festival in Brooklyn NY.
He was working on the new album and in 2009 release a single "Goodbye Mestechko Kishenev".
In 2010 one of the MIsha Marmar's Song "Shalom Jerusalem" achieved million of views, solely on YouTube. This song continues its strong popularety.
Misha Marmar's soft bariton voice, careful selections of the musical material, and his hownest delivery continue to earned him a very lage audiences among the musical fans around the world.
Misha Marmar passed away on 08.07.2010 in New York City.
